Just to say that the new version of Mac OSX is out now and free on all compatible Macs.

Yep. Downloading it now.

Debating whether or not I'll nstall. I run pro tools, and apparently in in ML there were some voice over bugs that made several features unusable. Though I see folks saying it works! Just hate to upgrade to find it doesn't! Any new VO or accessibility features?

I have it now

Safari is more consistent when you hit the back button and handles clickable elements better. In addition, tables now work in Pages 5.0 which requires Mavericks to run. You can use iBooks to download and read books though some of the controls are unlabelled, not a showstopper though. I don't know about Protools I'm afraid.

Ah great that they got tables working though. this has been a long time requested feature by professional Office users, something lacking in Pages and now sounds like was added. Great!

If you rely on pro tools, you shouldn't upgrade. Avid strongly doesn't support it yet.

Also, Safari is a lot quicker, no busy sign when loading a large web websight pages load insainly fast. I loaded Netflix in less then a second, start a movie video and all with in about one or two minutes. The time it took to load a movie was me browsing the Netflix sight. Load time or boot time is faster in the new OS compared to mountain lion, here are my specs: 8 gigs of memory, processor: I5 2.5 turbo boost to 3.1 a 5 hundred GB HD. its the 13 inch midd 2012 with DVD rom no retna display, I saw no need for it.

From what I have heard on the PTAccess list, a lot of the problems PT had in mountain lion are now fixed.

Now lets see if Open office can get the spread sheet fix, then we have a MS. office replacement.

This probably merits its own topic but I've only noticed it since I've upgraded to Mavericks.

On the zone, whenever I click on The Boards, then Topics with New Posts, the list of topics doesn't show up in a table in Safari as it did under Mountain Lion, unless and until I refresh the page. I can arrow through them like any other web content, but this isn't as convenient for me. Does anyone else get this?

Ed.
I have the same thing going on with the Mac I tried loading this site on. Also, it seems that several braille displays have issues when you try to connect using Bluetooth. I've read the Braille Sense from HIM and have experienced issues on the Focus displays. The Edge and the HW displays seem to work fine though. Also, everything is functioning fine with USB, though you'll need to switch from UEB if you wish to have a different translation table, just like when people upgraded to iOS 7.

Thanks - that reminds me, I should try it with my display, though I predominantly use that for iOS.

Btw I think it's neat that in Mavericks you can do offline dictation, obviously useful if you don't always have an Internet connection or are worried about privacy. Wonder if they'll roll that out to iOS.

I hope they will. I'm primarily a braille user on both iOS and OSX.Which display do you use?

I've got the Braillepen12. I'd ideally like cursor routing keys but it was going cheap on a second hand list so I figured why not. I was a bit disappointed that the little one Baum/Humanware used to collaborate on/both sell under different names doesn't seem to exist any more.
